January Calendar For A Cause- Rare Breed

Caring for one another is something we should all strive for.  Rare Breed, a division of The Kitchen is doing just that here in Springfield, Missouri!   They were established in June of 2000 and serve 60-70 youth every night.  The Rare Breed Youth Outreach Center partners with different agencies around the city to help provide programs for youth that are striving to overcome trauma or poverty.  Rare Breed’s goal is to provide a place of healthy relationships, resiliency, empowerment and healing.  They set up a personalized plan with each teen based on their situation including High School Equivalency (HSE) classes through the local community college in town, OTC.

Rare Breed is located on Jefferson Street where they have thought of including everything needed to help get teens off of the streets.  Showers, lockers, meals, laundry and a computer lab are just a few of the resources as well as a nursery, weight room and kennels to keep pets.  An urban farm and build-a-bike program teach youth how to build a bike, and at the end they get to keep it.

For our Calendar for a Cause this month, we wanted to reach out and ask how Hogan Land Title Company can help Rare Breed.  We received a list of items in which the organization is needed to help get through the winter months.  The list included a number of items to keep warm such as blankets and sleeping bags, items to stay dry and out of the elements, clothing and hygiene products.  Our marketing team headed straight for the store to help get some of these items to help out!  Some of the items purchased were blankets, hairbrushes, hats, gloves, socks, shampoo and conditioner and non perishable food items.  We also helped raise awareness about Rare Breed on social media, in hopes that others would help as well!  Thank you, Rare Breed for everything that you are doing to help homeless and at-risk youth here in the Springfield area and for letting us help during the month of January!
